Harry Hall Thermal Lined Yard Boot Black reviewed

When I was looking to buy a pair of new winter yard boots these caught my eye as they were on sale (always love a bargain). My priorities in this order this time were 1) must be waterproof, 2) must be thermal, 3) Looking good would be great but 1 & 2 were way more important.

I came across these and reading the reviews, which were ok, I thought I would give them a go. So the first pair didn’t arrive and, I can’t fault Harry Halls customer service as you actually get to chat to a real person who apologised and sent another pair out straightaway. Top marks for customer service.

When they did arrive I was not thrilled by their looks but to be honest these were to do yard work and bring horses in and out of muddy wet fields and I begrudge wearing out expensive leather boots doing this. I had no intention of riding in these as the foot is too bulky for me.

What I love about them

They are very warm – they have liners which are a good and bad thing as they defo kept my feet toasty, even in freezing wet weather, but every time you take your feet out the liners tend to come with them.

They are really waterproof – I tested this by sloshing around in the mud a lot and my feet remained bone dry. They have a clever front lacing system which includes a sewn-in panel which keep water out of the boot.

I found them comfy to wear for all day.

Not so keen on

Because the zip is way too small and cheap they broke within weeks.

The rubbish zips meant my boots lasted approximately 6 weeks! One of the zips has totally gone at the bottom and pulled itself out of the boot so it no longer does up and this means the foot part is no longer watertight even if you can manage to pull zip closed.

Drove me nuts trying to pull the zip up and you have to hold the liners tight so that they don’t get caught in it.

Score out of 5 stars

I am afraid I am going to give these boots a 1 out of 5, which is a pity, as if these had a decent, tougher zip they would be fab to keep your feet warm and dry if you don’t care too much about looking gorgeous and insta ready!

Will see if they upgrade the zip on the next model, if there is one, as that would make them pretty practical.

Glad I bought mine in the sale as the full price is listed at £89.95 but they are still on offer at the moment.
